FEEDER CATTLE 599 384 1387
Compared to last week, steers sold mostly 12.00 to 22.00 lower, and lightweight
heifers sold with a sharply lower undertone, while heifers over 600lbs sold
mostly 5.00 to 15.00 lower. Many small groups of unweaned and short weaned
calves with average or below quality in the offering. Lots of uncertainty and
mixed emotions in the markets this week after last Friday's announcement from
the President that he plans to import more beef in the coming months to lower
in store retail prices, paired with the regularly scheduled USDA cattle on feed
report that was bullish and showed placements to be lower than expected. Demand
was moderate to light on a light supply.
