Compared to last week: Feeder steers unevenly steady. Feeder heifers steady
to 5.00 lower, but some lower prices also due to quality and or conditions.
Demand moderate to good. A significant number of un-weaned calves are appearing
in the market, and these are trending lower in price. Steer and heifer calves
8.00-15.00 lower. Demand limited for calves. Cattle futures are still trading
in the green thru mid-day. Persistent high temperatures and lack of rainfall
continue to impact the region, and these conditions are expected to remain for
the foreseeable future. Overall, the quality of cattle available today is
mostly average.
