Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers lightly tested in early
trading, with insufficient volume to establish a clear market direction at this
time. Early demand is moderate. A significant number of un-weaned calves are
appearing in the market, and these are trending lower in price. Cattle futures
have opened on the positive side today. Persistent high temperatures and lack
of rainfall continue to impact the region, and these conditions are expected to
remain for the foreseeable future. Overall, the quality of cattle available
today is mostly average.
