Compared to last week, steers sold 3.00 to 10.00 lower. Heifer calves sold
10.00 to 15.00 lower, while yearlings sold 3.00 to 8.00 higher. Demand was
moderate to good. Slaughter cows and bulls sold 4.00 to 7.00 lower. In the
hay market, hay prices remained steady, while movement slowed in some areas.
The outlook for upcoming cuttings of alfalfa is largely dependent on rainfall
over the next week. Demand remains strong for high-quality prairie hay, with a
majority of available supplies being shipped out of state to areas experiencing
drier conditions.
