Compared to last sale: (8/03/26) Feeder lambs under 70 lbs sold sharply higher
with most sales 35.00-50.00 higher, lambs 70-89 lbs sold mostly 15.00-25.00
higher, lambs over 90 lbs sold generally steady. Demand was mostly good to very
good for heavy offerings. Lamb quality this week was average to very attractive
and overall better this sale than last sale. Many long strings of lambs were
seen this week and many were coming off range. Lambs off range were in mostly
light flesh and offered buyers good weigh conditions. Several local farmer
feeders were in the stands this sale and they showed very good demand for light
weight lambs that they could slow grow until spring and market for the spring
religious holiday season. Demand was very consistent this sale as buyers
competed over higher quality offerings and stayed throughout the long sale
which stretched late into the evening. Very few wooled lambs were purchased for
immediate harvest this sale as feeding demand outpaced slaughter demand. A few
hair lambs were purchased for slaughter this sale, these offerings were too
lightly tested last sale to develop any market trend. Many hair lambs were
purchased to feed this sale as they were too green coming off pasture to send
to direct slaughter. Demand for hair lambs to feed was light to moderate and
sold unevenly steady compared to last sale. Market activity this sale was
active with rapid bidding noticed. Slaughter ewes sold on good to very good
demand. Slaughter ewes sold fully steady on all offerings. Goats sold on light
to moderate demand for moderate offerings. Slaughter kids under sold generally
steady to 10.00 higher. Goat quality was mostly average to very attractive with
many heavy muscled county fair goats on offer. Demand for feeding goats was
moderate and similar to last sale. Feeding kids sold mostly steady to 5.00
lower. Feeding kid quality was mostly average this sale. Public auction yards
held their annual fall breeding ram special this sale. Demand for breeding rams
was very good as producers adjust to higher lamb prices. The stands were full
for the breeding ram portion of the sale with many bidders and buyers actively
and rapidly bidding on offerings.
