July corn closed up 1 cent per bushel at $4.12 3/4 and September closed up 3/4 cent at $4.20 3/4, closing slightly higher but for the week, July corn closed down 4 3/4 cents and December corn was down 5 3/4 cents. The corn market still isn’t strongly celebrating the weekly export sales for last week, as the somewhat bearish WASDE report still hangs over the market.

The NYMEX WTI July futures contract closed down $2.83 at $84.88 per barrel (bbl), and the August futures contract closed down $2.81 at $83.35 per bbl, closing lower after President Trump said that a peace deal with Iran should be signed by Sunday, June 14.

Maria Eugenia Garcia, DTN Energy Editor, said “Crude oil prices posted a weekly loss of about 6% on Friday (6/12), falling to their lowest level in nearly three months as expectations of easing tensions in the Middle East grew after U.S. President Donald Trump canceled planned retaliatory airstrikes on Iran a day earlier. Despite the easing of tensions in the Middle East, the four-month-long Iran war continues to severely disrupt global oil markets. Blockades imposed by both Iran and the United States at opposite ends of the Strait of Hormuz have restricted the flow of roughly 20 million bpd of petroleum liquids, creating one of the most significant supply disruptions in recent history.”

July RBOB was down $0.0516 per gallon at $3.0498, and August RBOB was down $0.0591 per gallon at $2.9867, closing lower following losses in crude oil today. June 12 AAA national average gas prices were $4.1080 per gallon for regular, $5.2590 for diesel and $3.1770 for E85. For comparison, since the beginning of the Feb. 28 conflict, Feb. 27 AAA national average gas prices were $2.982 per gallon for regular, $3.757 for diesel and $2.332 for E85.
