Compared to last week's light offering, best test on steers 1050 to 1099 lbs 
6.00 to 12.00 lower and best test on heifers 900 to 949 lbs 7.00 to 8.00 lower 
all on a narrow comparison.  A larger offering than last week featuring several 
strings as well as loads and packages, many packages were tested open heifers.  
The larger strings of cattle were out of yards, loads and packages featured 
more cattle off grass.  Flesh on grass cattle light to moderate, yard cattle 
moderate to moderate plus with a few in heavy flesh.  Mostly good demand for 
the offering with grass cattle seeing slightly better demand.  A moderate to 
active market with a nice crowd of buyers in the seats.  The continuing decline 
of fat cattle along with the futures complex has taken all optimism out of the 
industry right now.  Operating expenses continue to trend upward, especially 
feed expenses.  Many areas remain quite dry and some producers have started 
corn silage.  Next feeder cattle sale is Wednesday, September 2.
