Skim Milk Powder - Europe

Both ends of the price range for skim milk powder moved higher in Europe this 
reporting period. Contacts say the market is strengthening, as demand is 
increasing heading into September. Inventories are tight, and spot purchasers 
say loads are more difficult to find than they anticipated. Production is 
lighter in the region. Plant managers say declining milk output and strong 
demand for condensed skim milk from other dairy processors are both negatively 
impacting their production schedules. Some drying operations in Europe are 
primarily producing skim milk powder for contract customers and moving minimal 
volumes to the spot market.
