Cheddar cheese prices moved lower at the bottom, but were steady at the top of 
the range this reporting period. Processor prices also moved lower compared to 
last month and remain about 14 percent below year-ago levels. A major New 
Zealand dairy cooperative maintained its projected total cheese offerings for 
the next 12 months. 

Cheddar prices at Global Dairy Trade (GDT) Event 410 increased for October by 
4.9 percent, but decreased across all remaining contracts by as much as 2.3 
percent. No product was offered for February. Total volume sold was similar to 
Event 409 and a year ago. October and November accounted for 61 percent of all 
cheddar sales. Africa led purchasing, followed by Europe and North Asia.

Recently released New Zealand export data indicates July 2026 cheese export 
volumes were 38,645 metric tons (MT), an increase of 13 percent from the year 
prior. Export volumes of cheese from January-July 2026 were 267,502 MT, up 1.3 
percent from a year earlier. 

At GDT Event 410, the average cheddar price index across all contract periods 
increased to $3,744/MT, up 0.6 percent from the previous event. The September 
contract averaged $3,635/MT, down 2.3 percent. Additional cheddar pricing
