Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers traded mostly 2.00 to 6.00
higher, as cattle futures rallied well into the green today following
yesterdays drop. Fat cattle traded at a record high of 255.00 last week in
Texas. Steer and heifer calves were too lightly tested for a market trend.
Trading activity was active on good buyer demand. Quality ranged from plain to
attractive with a wide range of flesh conditions as well. The region is still
very dry and in need of a rain. According to the US Drought Monitor, winter
wheat in Texas was rated 56% very poor to poor on April 26 across the state,
along with 45% in Oklahoma.
