Compared to last week's light run, feeder steers and heifers were 4.00 to 8.00
higher. Steer and heifer calves under 700 lbs. were 8.00 to 16.00 higher, with
some spots as much as 20.00 higher. Demand was very good on a moderate supply.
The largest draft of the day consisted of 232 head of 900 lb. steers, which
sold for 321.50/cwt. Another stick-out draft, sold via video auction, featured
108 head of 1,000 lb. steers for current delivery, which brought 312.10/cwt.
Following a couple of weeks of extremely hot weather and light receipts,
today's receipts were in line with typical levels for this time of year. Ozarks
Regional set new all-time high prices in several weight ranges for both steers
and heifers on Tuesday as cattle futures traded higher and grain futures traded
lower.
