Butter - West U.S.

Released on May 28, 2025

Despite milk production decreasing week-to-week for parts of the region and ice
cream production increasing, cream volumes continue to be more than ample for
butter manufacturers. Cream multiples remain above flat market as of report
time. Stakeholders note butter churning schedules as steady or stronger
following the holiday weekend. Manufacturers indicate contractual load buyers
are more active. Domestic butter demand is steady. In terms of retail demand,
contacts describe activity as at or above expectations. Concerning food service
demand, contacts generally describe activity as down from expectations. Export
demand is strong. The CME butter closing price today is $2.5250/lb compared to
$2.3425/lb last Wednesday.
