Butter - West U.S.

Released on January 07, 2026

Milk production and component levels are generally strong at the start of 2026
in the West. Stakeholders indicate plenty of cream is available for Class IV
manufacturers. Cream demand from butter makers is stronger. Butter production
schedules are busy, with churns generally running heavily seven days a week.
Some butter manufacturers convey their inventory levels are not as high as they
would like. Domestic butter demand varies from steady to strong. Butter makers
indicate traders are active. 80 percent butterfat butter loads are available
despite some manufacturers indicating contractual demand for 2026 is starting
out strong. Export butter demand is strong, which is keeping domestic bulk
butter load availability tight.
