Compared to last week, slaughter cows were steady to 2.00 higher and slaughter
bulls were steady. Demand was good on a light supply of slaughter animals and a
moderate supply of replacement cattle. The top slaughter bull sold for
219.00/cwt. and the top slaughter cow sold for 183.00/cwt. Taking a look at
replacement cattle, the top pair was a 3 in 1 package of a first stage cow and
a 400 lb. calf by her side which sold for 5200.00/pair. The top bred cows sold
for 3350.00/head. There have been large crowds each week with replacement
animals in good demand and having no problem finding a new home. Pastures in
the area range from excellent to poor depending on where the hit and miss
showers have hit.
