Compared to last week, slaughter cows and bulls sold 3.00-4.00 higher. Demand
was good on a moderate supply. The top slaughter bull sold for 235.00/cwt. and
the top slaughter cow sold for 197.00/cwt. There were several bred cows and
pairs in the offering with the top pairs selling for 5450.00/pair and the top
bred cows selling for 4000.00/head. The USDA Cold Storage report, released
yesterday, reported beef in freezers was down 3 percent from last month and
down 5 percent from a year ago.
