In Europe, prices for skim milk powder (SMP) increased at both ends of the 
range. Contacts report sales of SMP within Europe are steady to lighter. Demand 
for SMP from purchasers in other regions is strengthening as spot loads are 
competitively priced compared to SMP produced outside of Europe. Increasing 
temperatures in Europe are contributing to lighter milk output. This is having 
a negative impact on SMP production in the region, as plant managers say they 
are running lighter production schedules. Spot loads of SMP are becoming more 
difficult to obtain, as demand is outpacing production.
