Compared to last Wednesday, feeder steers steady to 12.00 lower with best
demand on steer calves near 450 lbs and several high quality 600-675 lbs.
Feeder heifers under 600 lbs 5.00-15.00 lower, over 600 lbs steady. Demand
moderate to good. Supply moderate. Similar feeder offering to last week with
several consignments of outstanding fall calves. The feeder market has eased
back so far this week following administration talk of lowering tariffs and
increasing beef imports although we got some support Wednesday from a nice
rebound in cattle futures. Fed cattle appear headed for another new record high
this week as packers struggle to come up with enough numbers.
