Compared to last week: Feeder steers 3.00 to 8.00 lower, except 900-1000 lbs
10.00 to 15.00 lower. Feeder heifers 2.00 to 8.00 lower. Good to very good
demand for yearling steers and heifers, however there was some pressure on the
market as the futures contracts have become very volatile. Cash fed cattle
mostly at 237.00, also causing cattle feeders to pump the brakes and slow their
roll in their pursuit of cattle to refill their empty pens. Silage harvest was
ongoing but there were still enough buyers interested in the packages of spring
born calves, the market was active for these light calves.
