Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers 8.00 to 15.00 higher in a
narrow comparison. Very good demand for all weights of yearling steers and
heifers. The cash fed cattle market remains in the low 240s, keeping demand
for feeder cattle red hot. The market is very active in the auctions as the
sale schedules are sporadic and cattle feeders know they will have to compete
heavily to buy these long strings of yearlings while they are available.
Grazing conditions remain good, allowing for a full complete growing season.
Auction markets are still managing to put good sales together as there are
enough yearling backgrounders who want to capitalize on these prices. Frequent
rains have the corn crop developing nicely as growing conditions are very good.
