Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers unevenly steady. Good demand
for steers and heifers this week but at midweek when the futures turned lower
that pressure carried into the market at the auctions. Cash fed cattle turned
lower, which fed the level of uncertainty amongst cattle feeders causing them
to step off the gas in their pursuit of feeders. A winter storm across the
northern tier of the state but the rest of the state saw mild temps and dry
conditions, keeping conditions just right for cattle to gain weight efficiently.
