Compared to last week: Feeder steers under 750 lbs 5.00 to 10.00 lower, over
750 lbs 2.00 to 5.00 higher. Feeder heifers steady to 5.00 higher. Very good
demand for light weight steers and heifers, good demand for heavier weights
suitable for finishing. The arctic blast that arrived at midweek caused some
consignors to cancel, some auction locations did not host a feeder cattle
auction because of the dangerous conditions. Large receipts at the auctions
before the storm arrived as feeder cattle producers are wanting to capitalize
on the market as it has come back from it's lows back when it fell in October.
Better weather expected for next week as temps move back above zero.
