Receipts were up sharply from last week, with a good offering of weaned calves
on hand. Lightweight steer calves (300-500 lbs) saw reduced demand, trading
$5.00-$10.00 lower. In contrast, steer calves weighing 500-600 lbs were met
with a stronger demand, selling $10.00-$15.00 higher. Feeder heifers traded on
a more consistent demand throughout. Heifers weighing 300-500 lbs were
$5.00-$10.00 higher, while 500-600 lb heifers sold $10.00-$15.00 higher, with a
few spots up to $20.00 higher. Slaughter cattle held steady. Trends based on
limited comparable sales from the prior week.
