Compared to last week, feeder receipts were lighter with fewer offerings of
weaned calves. On an uneven comparison, feeder steers sold steady to $2.00
lower. On a stronger test, feeder bulls traded $8.00 higher. Lightweight
heifers weighing 300-400 lbs sold $15.00 higher, while 500-600 lb heifers
traded $15.00 lower. Overall demand for feeders was very strong. Highlighting
the sale was a draft of 11 guaranteed open heifers averaging 726 lbs that
brought $392.00 per cwt. Slaughter cattle traded mostly steady. There were
several offerings on quality replacements this week, drawing in a good
attendance, and selling on strong demand.
