Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold uneven with the calves under 550
lbs selling with a firm to higher undertone and those over 550 lbs selling with
a weak to lower undertone. Demand was good for a moderate supply. Despite
cattle futures down near the limit again Thursday, buyers have remained
aggressive for the grazing type calves and with several larger groups of those
offered, it made for an active market with some impressive prices on the
lighter cattle. Slaughter cows sold steady to 3.00 higher.
