Compared to last week's light test, steers and heifers sold with a higher
undertone. A quality run of reputation type calves and yearlings was offered
and met with good demand. Cattle futures have been volatile lately but
surprised with a mostly limit up move Thursday. This came after what felt like
a bearish announcement on Wednesday of a confirmed case of New World Screw Worm
in Texas. Supply was heavy. Slaughter cows sold steady.
