Compared to last week: Feeder cattle and calves not well tested but a sharply
lower undertone was noted. Most sales were closed this week due to the
Thanksgiving Day Holiday. This report includes sales from the Oklahoma
National Stockyards, Tulsa and the Woodward Cow sale. Cattle futures began the
week with a limit down day, however recovered most of the loss by midweek. The
cattle complex remains extremely volatile as any little news will make it turn
on a dime. This is limiting demand and has buyers very cautious. Winter
weather is expected to move in over the week but most of the precipitation is
expected north and east. Slaughter cows and bulls also saw a sharp drop this
week but mainly due to limited numbers creating the difficulty of making loads.
Demand is still good for replacement cows.
