5.00 lower. Steer calves over 500lbs unevenly steady, under 500lbs 12.00-17.00
lower. Heifer calves over 500lbs unevenly steady, under 500lbs 7.00-14.00
lower. Demand moderate. Slaughter cows steady to 3.00 higher. Slaughter bulls
6.00 higher. The slaughter market continues to be very good as packers try to
fill orders while competing against aggressive return to feed buyers. The
feeder market, on the other hand, remains very cautious as CME feeder cattle
futures were down the limit yesterday with little fundamental reason behind the
move. The Cattle on Feed report comes out this afternoon and expectations are
that the report will be bearish.
