The Oceania skim milk powder (SMP) price range tightened during the current 
reporting period as prices moved up at the bottom of the range and lower at the 
high end. Domestic demand is stronger, with domestic prices climbing above 
export prices. Export demand lessened, but prices remain relatively firm since 
inventories are tight and production is declining as the Oceania milk 
production season winds down. At GDT event 380, the average price for SMP 
across all contract periods remained relatively steady at $2,817, with the 
price index declining 0.7 percent. The price indices decreased across all 
contract periods for which loads were traded. The volume of SMP sold at GDT 
event 380 was down from event 379 and the same time a year ago.

Recently released export data from New Zealand showed April 2025 SMP export 
volumes increased 30.1 percent from the year prior. Export volumes of SMP from 
January - April 2025 were up 5.2 percent from the same time frame a year ago.

During GDT event 380, on May 20, 2025, the average price for SMP across all 
contract periods was $2,817, corresponding to a 0.7 percent decline in the SMP 
price index from the prior event. The average price for the June contract was
