Butter prices increased at the bottom of the price range, but decreased at the 
top this reporting period. Processor prices were down from both last month and 
last year. The futures curve was steady for May and October, while 
strengthening across all other contracts. The July futures contract led the 
way, up 4.9 percent. A major New Zealand dairy cooperative reported that its 
projected total butter offering for the next 12 months remains unchanged.Butter 
prices at Global Dairy Trade (GDT) Event 404 increased across all offered 
contract periods. June through September contracts were up between 0.3 percent 
to 3.1 percent, while no product was offered for October or November. Total 
butter volume sold was slightly below levels from both Event 403 and year-ago 
levels. July accounted for 68 percent of all butter sold. North Asia led 
purchasing, accounting for 51 percent of sales, followed by Europe and 
Southeast Asia/Oceania.

Dairy Australia recently released export data for Australia showing butter 
export volumes from July 2025 - March 2026 totaled 6,789 metric tons (MT), a 
decrease of 49.5 percent compared to export volume totals from July 2024 - 
March 2025.At GDT Event 404 on May 19, 2026, the average butter price index 
across all contract periods increased to $5,674/MT, a 2.5 percent rise from the 
previous event. The June contract increased 1.3 percent to an average of
