Milk production and cream supplies remain plentiful across the Northeast, 
according to contacts. Cream multiples are holding steady. Production for both 
branded and private label butter is running six days a week. Manufacturers 
report preparing for holiday demand and anticipate increased at-home baking and 
foodservice holiday orders. Contacts say demand is higher than a year ago and 
has leveled off after rising over the past several months. Advertised prices 
for one-pound butter packages are down nearly 6 percent from a year ago. The 
Eastern butter market is steady to weak.
