Butter production in the East region is strong. Large volumes of cream and good 
milk supplies are contributing to busy production schedules. Some manufacturers 
are purchasing spot loads of cream to keep churns running. Contacts indicate 
demand for consumer- size packaging of butter is good. Retail butter sales are 
strong due to lower price points. Bulk butter production is strong amid 
increasing prices for 80% butterfat butter. Export demand for 80% butterfat 
butter is steady. Some manufacturers are increasing inventories of butter in 
preparation for the summer and fall.
