CME prices for dry whey are on the rise this week. The CME closed at $0.57 on 
May 28, up three cents from last week's average. The CME prices contributed to 
a flurry of activity in the whey market. Contacts state the sales activity is 
rising. Sales prices in the East are rising but still below the current CME 
value. Whey production remains strong due to an increase in cheese production. 
Milk for Class III production is increasing. Whey inventories are stable even 
with the increase in activity.
