The Northern Livestock Video Auction held their 30th annual Diamond Ring
Ranch Sale today with just under 47,000 head on offer.
Demand was very good throughout the day and improved as the sale progressed.
Offerings were moderate.
Demand for all classes of cattle as very good with many takers actively
bidding on offerings.
Cooperate packers were very active in buying offerings mostly too big
to go to grass, showing very good demand as they bid against private feeders
and other packers.
Demand for cattle suitable to go to grass was very good as well with
buyers offering strong premiums for cattle light enough or in light enough
flesh to run on grass and market as yearlings.
Heifers all sold on very good demand as grass buyers showed good demand
for light heifers and heifers too heavy to go to grass were met with good
demand from both feeding and replacement buyers.
Many sets of heifers outsold their steer mates as buyers show a desire
to rebuild herd numbers.
Internet bidding was very active this sale with many bidders noticed
from all over the country.
A large crowd was on hand for todays sale with very active bidding noticed,
market activity was active as a result.
Value added cattle are cattle enrolled in two or more 3rd party verified
programs, otherwise cattle are tagged with the program in which they are
enrolled.
Demand for bred cattle and pairs was mostly good.
Supply included: 97% Feeder Cattle (67% Steers, 33% Heifers).
3% Replacement Cattle (32% Bred Cows, 62% Bred Heifers, 6% Heifer Pairs).
Feeder cattle over 600 lbs was 96%.
Feeder Cattle prices FOB based on net weights after a 0-3% pencil shrink
or equivalent, with a 10-28 cent slide > 600 lbs and 22-44 cent slide
