Compared to last week:  steer calves 450 to 499 lbs and 550 to 599 lbs 35.00 to 
40.00 higher, 500 to 549 lbs 25.00 to 30.00 higher.  Heifer calves 400 to 449 
lbs 25.00 to 27.00 higher, 450 to 549 lbs 35.00 to 40.00 higher.   Good to very 
good demand for this very large calf offering.  Many loads and packages of 
calves, all off the cow and in light to moderate flesh.  Quality varied, but 
many attractive calves to choose from, both in loads and packages.  Buyers are 
more than willing to put packages together to make loads if they have a good 
shot record.  Many consignments with solid vaccination records but also quite a 
few with just one good round of shots or less, buyers are much more reserved on 
these offerings as they are a much higher risk.  An active market with many 
buyers and farmer feeders in the seats today determined to own cattle, 
especially those attractive loads of preconditioned calves from reputation 
outfits.  Harvest has come to a halt as the weather has been wet and cloudy, 
much corn remains unharvested in this area.  Next feeder cattle sale is next 
Thursday, October 23, expecting another 7000 head of bawling calves.
