Compared to last week, feeders sold with a firm to higher undertone. Receipts
were very light around the state as most auction barns were closed in
observance of the Labor Day Holiday. Some much-needed rain fell across the
state at the end of the week that brought some cooler temperatures as well.
Boxed beef cut-out values were lower for the week. Choice closed at 375.94,
down 0.23 and Select closed at 353.13, down 2.74 compared to last week. The
choice/select spread is 22.81 per cwt. Negotiated feedlot sales as of the 2:00
cutoff time on Friday were reported just over 32K head, trade in the southern
plains was not reported due to confidentially rules within mandatory price
reporting. In the north, live prices were from 222.00-225.00, mostly 224.00,
dressed prices mostly 350.00. The Missouri Stocker formula consists of 739 head
with a weighted average weight of 542.29 lbs. and a price value of 402.85,
19.65 higher than last week. The steer/heifer is 35.74 per cwt.
