Compared to last week, feeder steers weighing 450-700 lbs and heifers weighing
400-650 lbs sold mostly 10.00-25.00 higher with 400-450 lb and 600-650 lb
steers tacking on even more sharper higher advances in spots, with a pot load
of steers weighing 891 lbs selling 9.00-12.00 higher than last weeks pot load
of similar weight with the other pot loads of 800-935 lb steers trading with a
higher undertone. Demand was good on a moderate supply despite 3-5 inches of
snow falling with slick roads. Overall a good quality offering of steers and
heifers sold on and active market after CME Cattle futures ended last week's
last two sessions with sharply higher gains had buyers more aggressive to own
feeders. Slaughter cows sold firm to 5.00 higher, spots 8.00 higher on the
high dressing cows.
