Compared to the last auction two weeks ago, feeder steers weighing 550-925 lbs
and heifers weighing 500-700 lbs all traded 10.00-20.00 higher, with instances
25.00 higher with the feeder steers under 550 lbs and heifers weighing 400-500
lbs selling with a sharply higher undertone. Lot of optimism returned to the
feeder market starting last week during Labor Day week for the first time in
over 6 weeks. Feeder Cattle futures have seen a good a good rally extending
into Monday with the front three months closing 460-575 higher. Fed cattle
market has showed improvement with trade ending last week at mostly
224.00-225.00. Several stick-out sales included 75 steers weighing 587 lbs at
433.00; 65 steers weighing 763 lbs at 375.75; 60 steers thin/fancy 814 lbs at
374.25 and 83 heifers weighing 616 lbs at 374.25. Slaughter cows traded mostly
3.00-5.00 lower than two weeks ago mostly average to low dressing cows.
