Compared to last week, Monday's market was mostly focused on the pot loads and
part loads of steers and heifers weighing from mostly 600-950 lbs, part load of
640 lb steers, part load 590 lb heifers, and a pot load of 610 heifers all
traded 20.00 higher than last week's highs with a pot load of 950 steers
selling 8.00 higher than last week's pot load of similar weight, two pot loads
of 752 and 790 steers along with a pot load weighing 817 lbs sold with a
sharply higher undertone. Steer and heifer calves were lightly tested but sold
with a firm to higher undertone. Market continues to be very active and
competitive especially on yearlings as the cash fed cattle market remains in
the 240.00-245.00 range in the Northern Plains. Several stick out sales
included pot load steers 752 lbs at 375.00, pot load 790 lb steers at 363.00,
pot load 817 lb steers at 366.25, 36 hd of 591 lb heifers at 398.00, pot load
80 hd 610 lb heifers at 389.50 and part load 657 lb heifers at 370.25.
Slaughter cows sold steady to firm.
