Compared to last week, steer calves weighing 400-500 lbs sold steady to firm,
spots 7.00 higher on the 450-500 lbs, 500-700 lbs sold steady to firm with
instances 10.00 higher on the 550-600 lb steers, pot loads of yearling steers
weighing 750-825 lbs sold 10.00-12.00 higher on comparable weights from last
week with the rest selling with a firm to higher undertone. Heifer calves
weighing 400-500 lbs sold steady to 5.00 lower, with 500-600 lbs trading
5.00-10.00 lower and 6 weight heifers selling steady. Demand was good on a
moderate supply. Heifer calves under 600 lbs did not reach last weeks highs
which was a very active market but numbers were a lot less and overall quality
did not run as deep. Overall a good quality offering of calves and yearlings
as the market remains very active. Stick out sales included 30 steers weighing
597 lbs at 420.25, pot load steers 720 lbs at 340.00, pot load 752 lbs at
345.00, 120 hd steers weighing 823 lbs at 326.60. Slaughter cows sold fully
steady to firm on a light offering. A nice offering of slaughter steers and
heifers sold with a higher undertone.
