Compared to last week's light test of the market. This week was the first test
of bawling spring calves with a good supply on offer at different auctions. A
market trend is not applicable for those lightweight steers and heifers. On the
yearling steers most sold 8.00 to 15.00 higher with some weights over 850 lbs
trading 20.00 higher on average. Yearling heifers sold unevenly steady. No
slaughter cows and bulls on offer. Slaughter steers and heifers sold 2.00 to
4.00 lower on a very thin test of the market. Really nice runs of calves and
feeders with several auctions holding customer appreciation BBQ sales. These
auctions are usually very active and buyers flock to them to procure livestock.
It appears that this year is the same. But there hasn't been a poor sale all
year with the historical prices almost every week.
