The market opened the new year on a strong note. Feeder cattle receipts were
moderate, consisting primarily of weaned calves, including several large
drafts. Buyer participation increased as buyers returned following the holiday
break, resulting in a strong demand, particularly for lightweight calves. Due
to limited feeder cattle offerings last week, there were insufficient
comparable sales to establish a clear market trend; however, demand was
noticeably stronger compared to the previous week.
