Buttermilk powder (BMP) is garnering more attention on the spot market this 
week in the Central and East regions. Contacts indicate an increase in sales 
inquiries from buyers. Demand for buttermilk remains strong and more purchases 
of spot loads were reported this week. The price range for BMP increased at 
both ends of the range and continues to trend up as nonfat dry milk prices 
surge. Production schedules are focused on contracted volumes of BMP and any 
available dryer time is focused on nonfat dry milk over BMP. Spot inventories 
remain very tight.
