Dry Buttermilk - East and Central U.S.

Released on February 26, 2026

The buttermilk powder (BMP) market is taking advantage of strong demand for
domestic milk powders. Nonfat dry milk and BMP are both experiencing an
increase in demand over the past few weeks. In some cases, spot loads of BMP
are being offered at prices $0.30 higher than the top end of the range from a
few weeks ago. The bottom of the range did not change this week. BMP
availability is very tight, and some contacts indicate nonfat dry milk is
taking priority in the dryers despite ample quantities of buttermilk available
for drying. Some manufacturers are only making enough BMP to fulfill
contractual requirements.
