FEEDER CATTLE 3196 1787 2644
First reported sale of the season, no price comparisons available. The market
was very active for this anniversary yearling special sale. Many long strings
of high quality yearlings offered in full loads and multiple load lots, along
with ample packages to put together and fill loads out. The futures contracts
continue to offer little support to the cash market, but cattle buyers were not
deterred from the chance to buy yearlings right off grass, and competed very
heavily to get cattle bought as strings of yearlings are in tight supply.
Flesh condition ranged from very light to moderate plus, as some cattle have
been fed a little as the drought conditions have been severe and forced some
off grass early.
