Whey Protein Concentrate - Central and West U.S.

Released on April 30, 2026

Whey protein concentrate (WPC) 34% prices strengthened throughout the price
series, with a notable increase at the top end of the price range. Market
activity slowed this week, partly due to an industry event. Some market
contacts indicated that certain suppliers are sold out for the remainder of the
year. Additionally, there are indications that one manufacturer will cease
production of WPC 34% after this summer, which is expected to further tighten
availability once they go offline. Contacts reported WPC 80% spot trades at
$11.00 per pound, with recent values ranging from $9.75 to $11.00. Instantized
product is moving in the upper $10s to lower $11s, while whey protein isolate
remains firmly in the $12s. Nonfat dry milk prices continue to reach record
highs, lending additional support to the WPC 34% market. Demand is
strengthening, inventories remain tight, and overall market tone is firm.
