Lactose - Central and West U.S.

Released on March 05, 2026

Lactose markets softened at the low end of the price series this week while the
high end held steady, with values remaining well above a year ago. Production
is steady, but inventories are tight, limiting spot availability and leaving
some contacts effectively sold out through the second quarter (Q2). Demand
remains strong across both feed and food sectors, supporting Q2 contracting,
where 100 mesh bookings are occurring in the mid to upper $0.50s and 40 mesh in
the low to mid $0.50s. Overall market tone is firm: activity has slowed
slightly, yet solid demand and minimal resistance from Europe continue to
underpin current price levels.

N/A, Edible Lactose
Price Range - Non Pharmaceutical; Dollars per Pound: 0.46 - 0.63
