Butter - Central U.S.

Released on August 06, 2025

Cream production is declining in the Central region, following seasonal trends.
Spot volumes of cream are available as ice cream purchasers are reducing their
spot orders, and some butter makers say they are selling spot loads of cream
due to scheduled maintenance. Outside of some plants with scheduled downtime,
butter makers say they are actively churning. Spot loads of butter are
available for purchasing and some butter makers say they are freezing loads of
butter for use later in the year. Domestic butter demand remains steady, but
light. Export butter sales are strong and butter makers report demand for 82
percent butterfat butter is outpacing production, keeping inventories for these
loads tighter.
