Butter - Central U.S.

Released on June 11, 2025

Warmer temperatures are spreading throughout the Central region this week.
Contacts in the upper-Midwest say temperatures remain comfortable for cows,
keeping components steady from week-to-week and leaving plenty of cream
available. Meanwhile in the Southwest, temperatures in the 90s are having a
negative impact on milk production and components and cream volumes are
tighter. Churns are active in the region and contacts in the upper-Midwest
report running full schedules to utilize available cream. Some butter makers
are freezing butter to build inventories for use later in the year. Domestic
butter demand is steady. Internationally produced butter remains priced at a
premium for loads produced in the Central region, and contacts say the price
difference is contributing to strong export demand. Spot loads of butter are
available to meet current market demands.
