Dry whey prices in the Central region increased slightly at the upper end of 
the range, while prices at the bottom of the range and throughout the mostly 
series remained unchanged. Industry contacts continue reporting strong interest 
in preferred brands, though inventories for these products remain tight. Other 
contacts indicate spot loads are available, however, overall demand for these 
brands is noted as more moderate. Export demand is strong, with continued 
interest from customers in Asia. Industry contacts report while CME prices for 
dry whey have been trending higher, these movements are not reflective of 
broader market conditions. Prices for animal feed whey remain unchanged, and 
market participants say animal feed whey prices are competitive with other 
dairy-based feed ingredients. Production schedules are light, contributing to 
generally tighter inventories.
