Dry Whey - Central U.S.

Released on July 17, 2025

In the Central region, dry whey prices were unchanged across the range and the
mostly price series this week. Contacts report domestic demand for dry whey is
steady to lighter, as some purchasers show hesitancy to pay current market
prices. Export demand for dry whey is light as domestic prices remain high,
compared to prices for dry whey produced in other countries. Several
manufacturers say they are sold out of dry whey for immediate shipment, while
others say they have limited spot availability. Dry whey production is light as
plant managers continue to focus on higher whey protein concentrates. The price
range for animal feed whey moved lower at the top, while holding steady at the
bottom this week. Animal feed whey production is light, and inventories are
tight. Demand for animal feed whey is limited, as purchasers prefer lower
priced alternatives, including whey permeate.
